Stephens’ natural gas bill promulgated
COLUMBUS – State Representative Jason Stephens R-Kitts Hill announced Thursday that his legislation sponsored under House Bill 201 has been enacted by the governor.
Legislation prevents local governments from limiting the use of natural gas and propane. Stephens attended the signing ceremony on Thursday.
“Here in Ohio, we want to promote a fair market for all Ohioans, consumers, to have energy options that work best for them – this legislation is helping to make that a reality,” Stephens said. “With this bill, I am making sure that my constituents, all Ohioans and businesses have access within their communities to the abundance of natural gas that our great state has preserved.”
He said House Bill 201 helps protect the economy throughout Ohio and maintains that people who currently have natural gas will be able to maintain that service now and into the future. In addition, the legislation also supports access to propane statewide.
Stephens believes every local community in Ohio should rejoice in the economic and environmental benefits that natural gas and propane bring to their citizens and businesses.
The legislation has more than 50 cosponsors in the House and Senate, including bipartisan support when voting in the House. During the committee process, the bill also gathered over a dozen testimonials from promoters from organizations and citizens.
This law will come into force in 90 days.
