Forward joins Lima News as editor-in-chief

LIMA — A new staff member has joined The Lima News.

Jeff Forward, a 1997 graduate of The Ohio State University, is the editor. Forward began working last week in Lima with David Trinko, who was promoted to editor after longtime editor Jim Krumel retired.

“We are thrilled to bring Jeff to our talented team here at The Lima News,” Trinko said.

In his new role, Forward will manage the newsroom staff on a daily basis and continue the hard-hitting journalism and reporting already underway.

A native of Westerville, Ohio, Forward most recently worked as a regional editor and senior suburban reporter for The Houston Chronicle, in Houston, Texas. There he ran a bi-weekly suburban edition of The Chronicle called The Woodlands Villager.

“I’m thrilled to be home in Ohio, closer to my family,” Forward said. “The Lima News is a leader in the community, and having a seven-day print publication is a testament to AIM Media Midwest’s commitment to the community and quality journalism. I look forward to getting to know the people and places of the region.

Forward has been a professional journalist since 1997, when he started working for The Appeal-Democrat in Marysville, California. He has worked as a reporter and editor for newspapers in California, Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Texas and Indiana. In his spare time, Forward follows college football and cooks. He is a chef as well as a former professional football referee. The forward also refereed NCAA football for 15 seasons.
