Launch of the off-campus housing network in the fall

In her latest health, safety, and wellness update, President Kristina M. Johnson shared the first details about Ohio State’s off-campus housing system.

The program, which is expected to begin in the fall, establishes recommended criteria in areas such as safety and security for off-campus residence halls. It aims to further strengthen the university’s collaboration with landlords while providing students with better information to best meet their needs.

“Each year, thousands of students seek to move into off-campus rental properties – choosing from a wide variety of options for their housing,” Johnson said in the update video. “Facilities that meet each standard will be considered ‘networked’ and this information will be shared with students as they search for a place to live.”

More information about the program will be available soon.

Additionally, Johnson shared that the Ohio State University Police Division recently partnered with the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity to implement diversity training for officers. The training builds on previous efforts and supports recommendations from Ohio State’s Community Safety and Well-Being Task Force.

A video about this training effort is available on the Office of Administration and Planning Youtube channel.

Finally, the President expressed his gratitude to the students, faculty, and staff for their commitment to each other throughout the semester and the academic year.

“Please continue to be careful and smart – respecting your classmates and neighbors this weekend and in the weeks to come,” Johnson said. “We’re less than a month away from the end of the semester, and I couldn’t be more proud of your efforts to support each other on health and safety.”
